It's Friday!!!

It's Fridayyyyyy! 

Have you heard about that surprise television death? Yeah, me too. 

If you live under a rock & haven't heard about it... prepare to pee your face.

It has seemed like the longest week EVER. I even caught a mysterious illness & missed a day of work. I think me actually writing this out makes the sickness real & frees me of any guilt I might have felt. That's a big (HUGE) might! 

Friday is grocery shopping day. As weird as it sounds I love to grocery shop. I mean really, truly I do. Nate & I go really late at night, even at 1 AM on occasion. It's prime time since the store is absolutely empty except for 1 or 2 other odd ducklings.

I make out a list of everything we will need for the week & write down dinner ideas. This makes it easier & typically it keeps us from buying things that aren't on our list. The key word there being typically. The warmer weather really gets me in the mood to cook elaborate, healthy-ish dinners. We're getting back into our "meatless monday" routine, so I'm going to make eggplant parmesian. I've also got a sausage-hash-thing on tap. I will be sure to let you know how that goes! I'm going to squeeze a trip to Barnes and Noble into our jam packed weekend. I've got to step up my meatless game.

We have a wedding to go to this weekend. We got schnazy new outfits & can't wait to inhale endless amounts of cake & beer.

Easter Weekend

Completely late on our Easter happenings, but it's been a busy few days!

We traveled home to see our families for the holiday. It was really nice since it's been over a month. Sleeping in, having your mom make you a bunny breakfast & slow country roads,what more could a gal ask for? 

Anyway... Nate's family had their Easter dinner on Saturday complete with Easter trivia. It's always fun to be pitted against one another on a holiday. The trivia totally kicked our asses though. We know nothing of the Easter holiday or anything else for that matter. Is it such a terrible thing that I got overly competitive with a 5 year old? I like to think not. She started it anyway. I mean doing the whole "loser, loser, double loser...." is completely normal for a grown woman. In the end we both lost, but I'll get her next year.

My family had Easter dinner on Sunday & as if trivia the day before weren't enough for our competitive hearts, we had an Easter egg hunt & an egg toss. Mind you, there is no one younger than 21 partaking in these activities. We're all trying to figure out what will happen when a grandchild comes. Do we all continue to do the Easter games too? I'd like to think so. We're all kids too! They've gotta learn a thing or two about losing. Am I right? Or am I right? I sound awful, I know.

I learned of loss. I lost both games. Unacceptable. I will blame it on my egg toss partner, she throws like a linebacker & my bag conveniently had a hole in it. Everyone else made out like bandits. Me.. I was awarded the "boobie prize." Literally, my prize had big, ugly boobs attached to it. My dad had to look up those boobs & perfectly cut them out to be placed on my prize envelope. Gross.

Moving along... Monday we traveled to Rochester to look at apartments. We quickly eliminated two. Very quickly. I'm getting old & doggone it I want something nice & new! This leads me to our final option. It's brand new! New appliances, new tubs, new floors, new walls. I could squeal just writing all of that! The only hiccup is that construction is not complete, but is supposed to be completed by the time we would like to move. Fingers crossed.

Artwork Inspiration

Ever since I found out we will be moving in May I've been so excited to decorate & make our new place feel more like us! Most everything in our current apartment are hand me downs. We're super grateful, but they just aren't things we would have picked out for ourselves. Our apartment is so old & everything is straight out of 1976. The walls are paneled, cracking & frankly just weird, so we haven't hung too many things up since living here. One thing I'm really excited to do with our next place is hang artwork up, maybe a gallery wall or two... who knows, I just can't wait! 

I've been browsing Pinterest endlessly for decorating ideas. Since we will most likely be moving into another apartment/townhome I've been looking at Apartment Therapy A LOT! They have the neatest ideas. It is going to be insanely hard to decide what to do, but I've included a few of my favorites so far.

I've also been browsing some artists' for the actual artwork. I found Anna Bond of the Rifle Paper Co. & she has a few prints I'm obsessed with. Her work is so beautiful and feminine... love it!  Also, Minted has really amazing options for art prints too. I've found quite a few I would love to own!

Spring Happenings

Match Day was on the first day of Spring & it was snowing, go figure. There were many other "firsts" & "once in a century" happenings on that day as well (another medical student informed us of these, otherwise I would have never known...), but really all we cared about were the results in that damn envelope. We had to sit through far too many speakers, watch everyone receive their envelopes & have the most nerve racking countdown on the planet. Finally at noon, after months of waiting, we found out we will be living in Rochester, NY! We couldn't be more excited! It was Nate's #1 choice & myself and our families couldn't be more proud!

Afterwards we were served a fancy lunch with the most delicious desserts.

Later that night the whole medical class went to a local bar with more delicious food & drinks and danced the night away.

Saturday morning I decided to make pop tarts. They are not high on my list of favorite foods, but we had leftover dough from a quiche & weren't sure what to do with it. So pop tarts seemed like the logical choice. They were incredibly easy & really good. 

We also went to see Nate's sister because she had a surprise for Nate (and me). Each of our family members had sent her photos congratulating Nate & then she put them all together in a collage. It was so awesome & way cooler than a card!

Side note...we recently saw Cinderella & it was so much more than I ever thought it would be. She wasn't my favorite princess growing up, but this movie made me love her. It makes me look at our dog in a whole new way. Sometimes I really wish he could talk, but then I rethink that whole notion because he would probably tell me what an idiot I am for talking to him like a baby. I swear he rolls his eyes at me.

Doctor Nate!

Yesterday we found out Nate will be a pediatrician! It's such exciting news & I could not be more proud! We find out on Friday where he will do his residency & it's been the most nerve racking experience to wait this long! Fingers crossed.

Speaking of Nate becoming a doctor... he loves craft beer. Like looooves it & is always looking to try new ones any chance he can get. Everyone that knows him relatively well, knows this about him. So, for Christmas my family bought him a brew your own beer kit with reusable beer bottles & I designed the label. He was beyond excited. 

The name I decided on might be a tad cheesy, but I was running with the tagline 'The Cure for Whatever 'Ale's' You', so "Doctor Nate" was the obvious choice. I settled on "Forty Four Beer Company" (this was his jersey number in football) for the name of his "brewery" with the hopes he would continue this little venture. Which he must be since two more boxes of beer making essentials just arrived at our door.

The process was relatively easy; it is more of a waiting game than anything. There are a few tweaks to work out for next time, but last weekend we were able to finally try it out & it was pretty darn good for a first try! Now we are trying to think of new names for the next couple of batches he brews.

Hopefully focusing our attention on something else will make Friday arrive more quickly.

Bucket List

We have the very real possibility of moving this Spring. Neither of us would mind this, we're very much hoping & praying that we do. But nonetheless, Hershey has been very good to us. It is the place we shared our first apartment, we cut down our first Christmas tree & probably the happiest of all... it is the place we got engaged. We've had some really great memories here & we will miss it to some degree, but we are sooo ready for a change of scenery. 

We've lived here together for almost 3 years & we've done a whole heck of a lot of things, but there are still things we haven't done. Since a moving date is getting closer, we've been creating a little bit of a bucket list. Some are things we've already done, but love & others are things we haven't managed to do while living here.

1. Run to Chocolate World & have milkshake.

We've walked to Chocolate World countless times since it's only a couple of miles away, but we've always wanted to run there.

2. Go to Park Side bar.
This is a little dive bar right near Hershey Park that is always packed! Supposedly they have really good food & they always have big signs out for seafood!

3. Indian Echo Caverns.
There are a ton of signs for this place. It is really close to us, but we've just never gone. They have caverns (obviously) & mini golf.

4. See a show at the Hershey Theater.
This place always has really great shows. There are comedians, plays & musicals coming all the time.

5. Visit York, PA.
We always hear there is quite a bit to do here, so we're hoping to make it there!

6. Visit the Crayola Factory.
This will be a little bit of a drive, but far shorter than what it may be in the future.

7. Hershey Spa
We have a massage here already set up. Can't wait! It's super fancy...

8. Harrisburg Senators baseball game with Joey
We've been to a couple of these games, but we've never gone to the "Pups in the Park" night. Joey has been to a Washington Nationals game & loved it, so I'm sure he would love this just as much!

There are countless other things we have thought of along the way, but of course I can't think of them now.
Hopefully we can check most of these off our list if we do end up moving. We find out in a couple very long weeks...

When your dog goes bonkers....

...and runs 100 miles per hour into some guy, completely wiping him out. That was the story of a nice, Saturday hike. It has been so cold, snowy & icy that we haven't gotten out of the apartment all that often. We take Joey on multiple small walks throughout the day, but that clearly hasn't been enough. This past week he ran full speed, back & forth through our apartment about 8 times, something he has never done before!

 So, we figured we should go on a hike where he is able to be off his leash & just run off all that energy. Once we got to the trail, we noticed some other people &  figured we would wait a little bit so they could get ahead of us. We waited about 10 minutes & noticed them coming back out of the woods. We talked to them for a few minutes & went on our way. Joey was already off of his leash & had run into the woods, but the next thing we know he is running like a maniac towards us & weaves through the people we had just talk to. We call to him & he starts running back, like a wild animal again, but rather than dodging the people, he just plows through this guy totally knocking his feet out from under him. It was one of those moments of shock where you don't know whether to run over to the guy or bust out laughing. It was completely embarrassing.

We hope the guy is fine. It seemed as though only his pride was bruised & most likely his ass.
