When your dog goes bonkers....

...and runs 100 miles per hour into some guy, completely wiping him out. That was the story of a nice, Saturday hike. It has been so cold, snowy & icy that we haven't gotten out of the apartment all that often. We take Joey on multiple small walks throughout the day, but that clearly hasn't been enough. This past week he ran full speed, back & forth through our apartment about 8 times, something he has never done before!

So, we figured we should go on a hike where he is able to be off his leash & just run off all that energy. Once we got to the trail, we noticed some other people &  figured we would wait a little bit so they could get ahead of us. We waited about 10 minutes & noticed them coming back out of the woods. We talked to them for a few minutes & went on our way. Joey was already off of his leash & had run into the woods, but the next thing we know he is running like a maniac towards us & weaves through the people we had just talk to. We call to him & he starts running back, like a wild animal again, but rather than dodging the people, he just plows through this guy totally knocking his feet out from under him. It was one of those moments of shock where you don't know whether to run over to the guy or bust out laughing. It was completely embarrassing.

We hope the guy is fine. It seemed as though only his pride was bruised & most likely his ass.

Happy Wednesday to you all! :)

So Many Books, So Little Time

It doesn't seem possible that it is already the middle of February. We are still trudging through the cold and snow & it is still the perfect time to curl up with a good book. It has been a long time since I have read a book in its entirety. Not that I haven't wanted to, but simply because it is hard to find the time. I am currently working on Lena Dunham's Not That Kind of Girl. It's funny & entertaining and I really hope to finish it in the near future.

I have listed a few books below that have caught my attention recently.

Shotgun Lovesongs

Four boyhood friends return to the small Wisconsin town they were raised in. Each has built very different lives from one another, but they have one thing in common... Beth.

You Should Have Known

A pediatric oncologist has the perfect life, but some unexpected things begin to happen & her life may not have been as perfect as she once thought it was.

A Little Something Different

This is the love story of two college students told from 14 different viewpoints.

Inside of A Dog

I am a dog lover. So, every time I go to a book store I always pick this book up, even though I know I have already looked at it 100 trillion times. It's about what dogs know & how they think & it paints the picture of what it might be like to be a dog.

One More Thing Stores and Other Stories

From the little bit I have read of the book above, I would highly recommend it. It made me laugh out loud & the mini stories are so clever. They are all separate stories, so you could read one a day & not be lost if you miss a couple two, three or a months worth of days in between.

Writing is definitely a talent I'm envious of, but that's besides the point...

Happy Wednesday! :)

Valentine's Day Weekend

Valentine's Day weekend has been a cold one. Perfect for endless snuggles & ridiculous amounts of coffee. We have never gone out for Valentine's Day, we've always loved making our own special dinner. Saturday morning I made a festive breakfast complete with heart shaped pancakes. We then took Joey to the dog park to run off some energy & he found his very own Valentine. She was the only other dog at the park, pretty sure it was meant to be.

Nate made the most delicious dinner. Steak, roasted sweet potatoes & red peppers, and lima beans topped with feta cheese. I made brownies topped with rasberry buttercream & chocolate chips for dessert.

We ended the night watching "The Notebook." It was such a relaxing, low key Valentine's Day.

Now we will be stuffing our faces with brownies for days & days.
Have a happy week! :)
