Baby Clothes Ramblings

Baby clothes. Ugh. They will be the death of me in all their teeny, tiny, "awwww" squealing glory.

You literally (or maybe only me?) can't just stop at one thing because every. single. thing. is so freaking adorable. I have had countless occasions where I have no less than 10 tabs open in my browser with each shopping cart full. Then I instantly close them all when I even sense a glimmer of actually clicking "checkout."

Don't let me fool you though. I've absolutely bought some of those "awww" inducing baby clothes, but quite literally only a couple. One of the downfalls of not finding out the gender is you can't buy those cute pink dresses or handsome bow-tie outfits. But thank GAWD real little lads wear pink & blue is the prettiest of colors on tiny ladies or we'd be shit outta luck. Plus Dr. Nate says "the best thing for a baby is to be naked." Noted. This for sure means this kid will be best dressed in that sweet little birthday suit of his/hers & clearly save us money on any real baby clothes.

I love love LOVE small shops & the first things I bought for baby were from small businesses run by insanely inspiring women. When I first found out we were expecting I instantly purchased a SollyBaby Wrap. It was literally the first item we purchased & I'm beyond excited to put it to use once baby arrives. It is the softest material & they have the prettiest color options.

June & January is another shop I have high on my list of small businesses. We bought the sweetest little hat & I plan on making many more purchases through them. Their clothes are simple & bright which I'm completely obsessed with.

Baby bonnets. I mean c'mon, is there anything sweeter? Gimme all of them. :)

If you or someone you know is expecting a little one you should absolutely check out these small businesses. :) Or if you know of any really great small shops please let me know!

Happy Wednesday! xoxo

Easter 2016

Nate had Easter off which was so, so nice! Unfortunately, we weren't able to make the trip home to spend the holiday with our families, but we had a very nice Easter all the same. :) It was our first holiday spent without them & the first holiday we ever woke up together!

We each hid baskets for one another & one for the dog. Needless to say Joey loved his since it was complete with bubbles & bones! Nate's was a more manly version with his favorite beer & candy. I didn't get a photo of mine, but Nate got me French macarons & a special dark chocolate; each were delicious! And to top it off it was a beautiful 68 degrees & sunny! :)

It's funny to think this is the last Easter without a little babe running around! :)

I will post the recipe for these cupcakes later this week because they are the most delicious piles of chocolate on the planet & insanely easy!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter spent with the ones you love!

Nursery Planning

Planning a newborn's nursery is definitely one of the most exciting parts about having a baby. The possibilities are almost endless & thanks to sites like Pinterest us new mommy's can search & search for ideas to our hearts content.

Our newborn nursery will be on the small side. First, because our second bedroom really is that small & secondly because our desk and all my art goodies are also in this room. So, it will essentially be a nursery/office.

Regardless of size, it's still really fun to plan this room out! Nate & I are both attracted to the color grey when it comes to pretty much anything. Naturally, we have gravitated towards this color for the baby's room & it is the perfect shade for a gender neutral nursery. We plan to keep things pretty simple & minimal as far as decorating goes. We don't have a "theme" chosen, but have seen some elements in photos we would love to incorporate.

I have been scouring numerous websites for ideas & have fallen in love with a few.

The bright, natural light is soooo dreamy. Luckily, our nursery will get it's very own healthy dose of sunshine! :)

Happy Wednesday! :)

Easter Goodies

I've personally never hosted a holiday gathering (can't wait for that day!), but Nate & I always try to be festive in any way we can as a holiday approaches. Breakfasts (our favorite), dinners, activities.... the list goes on.

Easter is no exception. It's always so fun to decorate with all the bright, cheery colors & the hopes of warm, Spring weather. I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect Spring wreath for our front door to ring in that much desired warmer weather!

Coloring Easter eggs is always one of my favorite things to do this time of year & eating them... but my absolute most favorite thing to do, no matter the time of year, is to bake!

I'm probably extra excited to do some Easter baking this year since Nate & I both gave up sweets for Lent. Let me tell you, as a pregnant gal that has been craving sweets nonstop, the struggle has been real. I may have snuck a few doughnuts within those 40 days... judge me hard.

I'm definitely, without a shred of doubt, baking cupcakes. Big, fat chocolate on chocolate cupcakes. with butt-loads of sprinkles. I'm really convinced I'm a cupcake master. I would never claim to be a good cook, but damnit this girl can bake! No boxed cupcakes here folks, I make those mouthful of deliciousness' from scratch. I also stumbled across these raspberry lemon sticky buns I plan on whipping up.

I've put together a list of some things I'm loving for Easter entertaining & baking!

Let the planning (and Cadbury egg eating) begin! :)

Spring Fever Playlist

I am insanely ready for Spring. This was our first Winter in Rochester & it was surprisingly mild. We have had snow flurries almost daily, but we've also been lucky enough to have a few days in the 50's & 60's!

When we lived in Hershey I craved to have a full on Winter with multiple snow days & although we did get snow there, it was just never enough for me for whatever reason. Now, this year, in Rochester, we had one major snowfall & I can honestly say I'm good for another year... or more. Maybe I'm just getting old & want to live in a warmer climate all year.

I love having all four seasons, but I have definitely been wanting warmer weather & sunshine more than I ever have before. This week has been much, much warmer with a few days of sunshine sprinkled in which is giving me Spring fever even more. We've already started our cherry tomatoes & jalepenos in the house, so we're super excited! We also just purchased our first REAL grill. No more mini-portable for us! And maybe it's because when Spring officially arrives we will be another season closer to meeting our little babe. :)

With all these warmer, grilling days ahead I'm sharing some songs from our Spring playlist. We love dancing around like crazy people & music just really sets the mood!

Enjoy & happy Wednesday! :) xoxo

21 Week Bump Update

How far along: 21 weeks - baby is the size of a banana!
Gender: No clue :)
Weight Gain: 9 lbs
Stretch marks: Nope
Maternity clothes: A couple items, but I really don't know how much longer I will make it without maternity pants. All of my shirts fit just fine & all of my pants fit until I go to button them around my stomach... I had to use the old ponytail trick the other day.
Sleep: It's gotten better. I've been using lavender & chamomile right before bed and I think it's really helping!
Best moment of the week: We bought a grill! Finally!
Worst moment of the week: The bitter cold. But it's going to be in the 60's this week!!
Miss anything: Raw sushi :(
Movement: Quite a bit, especially at night.
Cravings: Still the same old things. :)
Symptoms: Restless legs like you wouldn't believe & I've now entered the world of heartburn.
Belly Button in or out: In.
Queasiness or sickness: None.
Looking forward to: Sort of nailing down how we would like the nursery to look!

Maternity Style

I am still sort of in the "is she or isn't she" phase. As a result I've been wearing mainly leggings & flowing tops, mostly for comfort, but also to cover my tummy that looks like I have had far too many burritos. Once I've really popped I plan on wearing more form fitting outfits; I think it's super flattering on pregnant ladies. Lookin' at you Chrissy Teigen.

I am determined to hold out on maternity clothing until the warmer weather arrives. I have bought a few "regular" items in the next size up & I just purchased my first pair of maternity jeans. We will see if I actually make it the next couple of months on what I have...

I really want to fill my closet with a ton of Spring & Summer dresses that can hopefully be worn after baby is born. I've always felt most confident in a pretty dress & I'm sure that will hold true as I get further along in my pregnancy. Plus, lets face it, I frequent the bathroom so often these days & dresses are just way easier...

Here are a few dresses I have been dreaming of buying & a couple are non-maternity for all you none pregnant ladies! :)

One // Two // Three // Four // Five // Six

Happy Wednesday! xoxo
